Frances Keyes has been breeding and showing Schipperke's for 30 years. They are a passion of her life.
The Schipperke is a fascinating and highly intelligent breed. They were called Little captains from the Flemish and The Little Skipper from Belgium. They existed for centuries and were shown at Dog Shows in the 17th Century. Originally Boat dogs, ratters, farm dogs, they are great with horses, kids and the elderly. Their antics make the elderly laugh and their energy can match children. Suspicious, easily distracted, charming, highly intelligent, swifter than a mouse, always occupied and curious, but loyal and protective like a
German Shepherd.
Schipperkes are a passion with Frances Keyes and two decades in caring for and producing some of the top winning dogs of this feisty and fun loving breed is testament to that unerring devotion.
Frances Keyes is an A.K.C. Licensed Professional All Breed Handler and a former member of the Professional Handlers Association. As a member of the Schipperke Club of America; in 2007 - 2009 she was on the Ways and Means Committee featuring the Skip - A - Thon for the club.
(The Skip-A-Thon is an event designed to bring some fun and relaxation to the start of the SCA's big week of shows, seminars, and other events. Every Schipperke who is a Schipperke can compete in the Skip-A-Thon. All it takes is a little talent, a cute costume, and a great sense of humor.)
Frances Keyes is one of the directors for SCA and is an SCA Approved Breed Mentor. Currently she holds one of the top ten with schipperke: CH Nanhall's Sandpiper.
At 2010 SCA National Specialty Frances will be judging the Futurity.
